My Fall/Winter Sewing Plans

We are only a couple days away from the first day of fall…and it is really feeling like autumn here in Minnesota!  I’m slowly working towards a me-made capsule wardrobe that transitions well between seasons.  I did pretty well this summer adding items that worked well for me: many Colette Sorbetto tanks, a Megan Nielsen Briar T and two A-Line Skirts.  I already had a couple of maxi skirts that I had made in previous summers that remained in the mix.

As we move into fall and winter I have a few items I’d like to add…it will probably take me several months to finish all these, but then having new clothes in the middle makes the long winters in Minnesota more “fun”!

First, I would like to make a skirt that would work well for fall and winter.  At first I was thinking of a midi-pencil skirt like this:

Or this:

But then I saw this skirt…and now I have a decision to make!

Brooklyn Skirt

I already have this pattern and have made this dress…but it is now too big.  So I plan to make it again in a smaller size using this fabric:

Teal Ponte do Roma

I also would like to make this cowl neck sweatshirt:

French Terry Stripe

And, If I get all that done, this is my dream:

Camden Cape
Navy Twill
Lining with a thrifted navy silk similar to this

Such a simple statement piece!  And absolutely gorgeous!

Have you heard of Seamwork Magazine?  Such lovely patterns for such an inexpensive price!  I’ve been thinking about it for a while, but what has finally sold me is that you can use your “pattern points” received each month for any of their patterns, not just the current issue!
